When asked why he would help his competition, he explained, “Wind carries pollen between fields—if my neighbors’ corn is poor, it affects mine. By sharing the best seeds, everyone’s crops flourish, including mine. We grow stronger together.”
This simple act of generosity echoes the wisdom of Henry A. Wallace, a great leader in American agriculture, whose motto became “Peace, Prosperity, and Equality.” Wallace believed in sharing innovations and resources so that all farmers could prosper.
